Murray Associates is a privately owned search firm founded in 1993, specializing in Accounting and Financial placements. Murray Birnbaum is a CPA and holds a Masters Degree in Psychoanalysis from The New York Graduate School of Psychoanalysis. He  has over thirty years of experience in accounting, finance and executive recruiting. Murray initially worked in Public Accounting and subsequently for two Fortune 500 companies, before successfully building his recruiting business over the past thirty years.

At Pfizer, from 1978 to 1984 Murray held several domestic and international financial management and planning positions, while living and working in London for three years, where he was Assistant Controller – Planning and Analysis and Controller – U.K. Operations. Previously, he was a Senior Financial Analyst and Senior Auditor for Standard Brands, Inc. His initial Public Accounting experience was gained with Pustorino, Puglisi & Co. CPA’s. Murray is a graduate of Pace University and has a Masters Degree in Psychoanalysis from The New York Graduate School of Psychoanalysis. He was an Adjunct Professor at Hunter College for two years ().  Murray is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants, and the American Psychological Association.
